Why Grace-conscious Christians support President Trump (and why non-Christians should be encouraged by his rise to office)

Why Grace-conscious Christians support Trump (and why non-Christians should be encouraged by his rise to office) What is it about Trump that so many Christians are willing to support?  It baffles many non-Christians, since it seems like his past is so antithetical to their Jesus-message.  It even baffles some Christians, who have a hard time wrapping their minds around the percentages of believers who voted for (and still support) President Trump.  How could they support someone with such a dubious past -- 2 failed marriages, a string of questionable business and relational dealings, entanglements with mammon and profit, a character that seems so unlike the polished image they want to believe of America and its history, especially as it was taught to them in grade school? It has become more and more apparent to me that the underlying issue, which non-supporters fail to recognize is the true meaning of “grace” and how it manifests in the lives of people, whether they are Christian

God's and Our Sovereignty

You might hear some people talk about the sovereignty of God, but the way they apply it is more like fatalism or determinism, which carry the spirit of hopelessness and are a form of spiritual, mental bondage. They want to offer a poor explanation for evil, death, sickness, destruction, and unbelief in the world based upon it somehow being God's “unalterable will”. This isn't accurate. God's sovereignty has to do with His Kingdom rule – His supreme rule over all and His self-governance. He is the God above all gods and LORD above all kings, and a revealer of mysteries (Dan. 2:47). What those who wrongly apply the sovereignty of God often don't explain, is that God invites us, as Christians and as His children, into that place of Kingdom rule with Him. “...and has made us kings and priests to His God and Father.” (Revelation 1:6). A king has power and responsibility to discharge that power by upholding and extending justice and mercy and by “winnowing over evil

Our Glory is His Further Glory

Some time ago I watched this video about how various characters in the Bible are "types" of Christ, like how Isaac being offered as a sacrifice was a picture of Christ dying on the cross for our sins. The point of the video was to demonstrate how Jesus is the better fulfillment. However, at the very end of the video he says something obscure, "The Bible isn't about you." I hear other phrases like this, "Life isn't about you" or "Christian, the Church doesn't exist for you." If the "Bible wasn't about us," then why should we read it? Where does it ever say that in the Bible? (I can find quite a bit of evidence to the contrary). These phrases have a nice way of sounding "spiritual," but the problem with these mantras, is that they perpetuate the enemy's lies of insignificance, false condemnation, self-hatred, and purposelessness -- which feeds the very attitudes Jesus has come to eradicate. Too much of the Ch

Why Christians Need Deliverance: Notes

Notes: Why Christians Need Deliverance “Possessed” - implies ownership; “you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies. 1 Corin. 6:20. “For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves,” - Col. 1:13 “Oppressed” might be a better word – a word that means affected by, or in some way deceived by or being manipulated by the powers of darkness. “Can have a demon” 1 Corinthians 10:20 No, I imply that what pagans sacrifice they offer to demons and not to God. I do not want you to be participants with demons. Do not be yoked together with unbelievers. For what do righteousness and wickedness have in common? Or what fellowship can light have with darkness? What harmony is there between Christ and Belial? Or what does a believer have in common with an unbeliever? What agreement is there between the temple of God and idols? For we are the temple of the living God.  (2 Cor. 6:14-16) And He sent messengers on
